The Bar

Casual hotel bar with good deals and a relaxed vibe

Time Out Says

Set in the slightly dated Hyatt Regency Dubai, admittedly The Bar isn’t a location that you’d seek down specifically if you’re after a night out.

However, if you happen to be in the area (say you are eating at the hotel’s excellent, authentic Japanese restaurant Miyako) then for a pre-dinner drink it’s worth popping into.

Especially as the happy hour (50 percent off from 6pm-8pm every day) extends to a wide selection of drinks, including interesting mixed beverages.

The hotel also houses Carpenter’s Bar (a sports bar set, unexpectedly, next to an ice rink), but head to The Bar if you’re after a casual drink in a more salubrious setting.

The sunken bar area allows for an airy, open feel to the space, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire back wall of The Bar afford views over the dhows and the Creek outside (especially at sunset).

Modern furnishings and fresh, bright décor help lift the feel of The Bar away from a standard hotel lounge offering, while the tall, comfy whispering chairs are a fun touch if you’re after a private conversation.

The Bar isn’t going to be the hottest nightlife venue in town, but for a relaxed catch-up over a drink when you find yourself in Deira, you could do worse.

The bottom line
Bright, airy and casual for a quick drink.
