Ting Irie

We like this Jamaican spot as a restaurant and we love it as a bar

Time Out Says

With its easygoing atmosphere, vibrant interiors and fun-loving staff, newly licensed Ting Irie is just the tonic Downtown needs to refresh its nightlife scene.

While the restaurant filled a gap in the city for jerk chicken and Jamaican food, its new beverage menu and excellent music make it an even better spot for a up-beat night out.

Playing a combination of classic reggae tracks and covers of retro hits (on our visit, we catch Britney among others) and with its bright, kitsch, wooden shack-style décor, the place manages to capture that chilled-out beachside vibe. Especially if you order one of the mixed beverages that come served inside a whole young coconut.

Though the menu offers plenty of tropical flavours and a few Jamaican premium beverages (which, starting from Dhs40, are pretty reasonably priced) Jamaican hops are conspicuously absent. There’s also no happy hour yet. That said, the Tuesday ladies night is already busy and buzzing, and if things continue the way they’re going, we’ll be surprised if the place doesn’t end up packed most nights of the week.

The bottom line
If you’re in Downtown, make a beeline for this easygoing Jamaican spot
