Time Out Says
We also wouldn’t associate it with hip-hop and R&B – but after spending the early hours here, we’ve discovered this is a very apt name for this brilliant spot.
As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with neon signs left right and centre. They scream “work hard, play harder” – it’s clear this place is about having the maximum fun possible, much like a kid in a toy store. One sign declares “no social media”, which seems a little counterproductive as these are made to be photographed – no designer uses them because there was a sale on at IKEA.
We get here early but the music is already pumping and everything seems to be pushing you towards the dance floor – if only to not disappoint Snoop Dogg, Rihanna and Drake (in mural form). The place isn’t packed out but still draws a decent crowd.
We head to the bar where we’re disappointed (but not surprised) to find house mixed drinks are Dhs75, meaning that if we keep dancing until the small hours this will make a big dent in our bank balance.
Drink prices aside, it’s clear why this spot draws the crowds every weekend – everything is geared towards having a good time, and you’re more likely to be dancing away than taking pictures for social media (we’re starting to understand that sign).
Before we know it, it’s time to return to the real world which looks far too plain without neon signage and strobe lighting. But after such a fun night, we’ll definitely be back for more.
