Time Out Says
However, it’s rare to find somewhere as laid-back and chic as Zeta, an al fresco bar and sushi restaurant set on a huge terrace at the back of Address Downtown.
The swish bar opened late last year in the newly-revamped hotel, and is named after a star that lights up the sky. Sitting in the space that was Calabar, it boasts uninterrupted views of The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa, as well as ultra-modern plant-themed décor featuring gold and green metal palm trees.
Large wooden arches and bunches of bulbs spread a soft light over spaced-out tables, with comfy cabanas lining the sides of the space. After crossing a bridge at the entrance of Zeta, we’re immediately shown to a sofa with a prime view of the fountain show. The service at Zeta can be a bit hit and miss – we’ve had both slick and attentive and somewhat haphazard on our previous visits – but the staff are friendly and welcoming.
The drinks selection is equally impressive, with a wide range of premium beverages available. Signature mixed beverages are available by the glass or carafe (far more elegant than a pitcher), while there are also inventive sorbet floats on offer.
Zeta also has a range of bespoke iced teas, which are interesting and inventive, using ingredients including sencha, lavender and honey.
And prices are surprisingly keen given the setting, with drinks coming in lower than you’d imagine for a swanky spot with such good views. A glass of house grape starts at Dhs50, with hops priced similarly and mixed drinks around the Dhs70 mark.
There’s also a decent, albeit small, food menu if you’re looking to dine, with a selection of super-fresh sushi and other Asian-inspired bites.
The Fountain show will keep you entertained and time will quickly slip by as you relax into the comfy sofas.
The vibe is chilled, yet upmarket, but not in a pretentious or stuffy way, and it’s a great place to impress guests.
An excellent new laid-back spot that’s the perfect place to take in spectacular fountain views in chic surroundings.
