This nail salon-cum-spa in the Marina is mad about natural ingredients, so the solutions they slather over your body (all made in the south of France) smell nothing less than divine – they don’t have that sickly, synthetic tinge. On my visit I opt for the white scrub because it’s apparently the most detoxifying treatment on the menu, promising to free me of all the impurities collected through pollution, electrical interference and a hectic lifestyle.
N.A.I.L.S’ owners have recently expanded their former nails-only remit to include a range of beauty and spa treatments; walking past the nail bar area to the new spa floor, I’m hit with an entirely different (and far more relaxing) vibe. I’m then shown to a lovely private room, complete with shower and sauna, which is dimly lit and decorated in the standard neutral, calming spa colours.
The treatment kicks off in vigorous fashion as the therapist scrubs nearly every part of my body (bum and chest areas are, thankfully, optional), and the air fills with a delicate aroma. Before I know it, I drift off into a light slumber while the organic body polish rids me of dead skin.
Fresh-from-the-ground Himalayan salt provides the texture, while Lavandula hybrid produces the intoxicating scent (which is known to calm and relax), and citrus works its magic to brighten skin, detoxify and rev up the circulation.
After a sauna and shower, my therapist finishes by applying a generous slathering of white oil, leaving my skin revitalised and silkier than it has been in months. The results are superb, but this is not a spa for the prudish (the therapist waits in the suite with a towel as you shower).
