Do you believe in NDEs? That’s ‘near-death experiences’, for the uninitiated. The open-minded might be particularly interested to hear that Anita Moorjani, author of New York Times bestseller Dying to be Me,
is heading to Dubai for a series of workshops in December. Anita fell into a coma as a result of cancer, when doctors had given her just a few hours to live. At this point, she apparently ‘crossed over’ for a while, before choosing to return to life. You can find out the full details of the workshops she will be conducting during her trip to Dubai at theholisticinstitute.org.
In more tangible news this week, we’ve heard talk of a flurry of new openings across town, including Sephora’s new Makeup Forever studio in its Mall of the Emirates branch. We’ll be paying a visit to find out whether its party make-up sessions are worth investing in for upcoming special occasions. Natural haircare powerhouse Simply Organic is also launching its own flagship salon, Bijou Beauty Lounge at The Address Downtown Dubai. Staff are yet to confirm the full menu of treatments, but rest assured we’ll be the first in there to give you the full lowdown when they do.
Elsewhere, in a move perhaps inspired by the relocation of one of the city’s best-loved hair salons for women, the Jumeirah branch of Pastels Salon is relocating to a ‘bigger and move innovative’ salon on Al Wasl Road, where the focus will be on cutting-edge hair, nail and beauty treatments, rather than more traditional offerings.
Bloomingdale’s Dubai has once again come up trumps, and will be selling a Miller Harris limited-edition fragrance, La Fumée Arabie, that has been created especially for the department store. And in another exclusive, paraben-free cosmetics range Radical Skincare will soon be available at Beyond Beauty in Harvey Nichols at Mall of the Emirates. The store will stock all six of Radical’s multi-tasking products.
That’s all for now – until next week, when you can expect some festive reveals. Namaste.
