Upcoming wellness events and veggie food in Dubai

Dubai is home to an ever-growing number of companies offering to help clients lose weight by sending carefully assembled meals to offices and homes across town. Health Factory is soon to take the next step: it will offer a balanced vegetarian menu featuring Indian and oriental dishes, which can be incorporated into any of its seven current programmes.

Looking ahead, our sources tell us that Tips & Toes will offer 50 percent off a range of services throughout April to mark April Fool’s Day on Monday April 1. In the same month, Dubai Herbal & Treatment Centre celebrates its tenth years operating in Dubai. Though the line-up is yet to be finalised, the centre will host a free open day to mark the occasion, with talks on ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, plus the opportunity to sample a variety of wellbeing treatments and products.

Meanwhile, one of the Mother’s Day packages we’re most looking forward to in March comes from a collaboration between Zen Yoga and SensAsia Urban Spas. Buy five yoga or mat Pilates sessions to get a Dhs150 voucher for the spa, or buy any treatment at the spa worth Dhs300 or more, and get two free yoga or mat Pilates sessions.

Finally, the UAE’s National Authority for Scientific Research is funding a study to see if there is a connection between food taste and depression, based on suggestions that tastelessness is a symptom of depression. The results could lead to better identification and treatment of mental health issues in the region. That’s all for now – until next time, namaste.
