Targeted body areas will be relieved of flab using suction to capture the area and cryogenic technology to freeze the fat cells within it. These cells are then eliminated via the body’s metabolism. Results are said to be visible in two weeks, with the entire process taking six weeks.
Lying on my side, the elliptical-shaped paddle-like vacuum is switched on to a low suction as my therapist, Joyce, places it on my side. The vacuum latches on and suction is increased from level three to the maximum ten, while its temperature is lowed to 3°C. I remain like this for 30 minutes on each side. It isn’t pain-free: the pinching sensation is intense (although not tear-inducing), and the low temperature creates a burning sensation. It seems like the longest 60 minutes of my life.
The following day I’m left with small bruises on each side, which Joyce forewarned me about. I’m told to eat healthily and drink three litres of water a day. I suddenly feel the urge to exercise a little and change my diet in an effort to make all the pain worth it, and after a week, my sides have already reduced in size.
If it works in the long-term, it will be the easiest, laziest way of losing weight that I’ve found.
It’s painful, uncomfortable and strange, and not as non-invasive as you’d like if you bruise easily.
