New sweat-proof sunscreen

Plus a new yoga retreat and more in this week's wellness news

This week: A weekend yoga retreat in Abu Dhabi, a sweatproof new sunscreen and Virgin’s new Dr Hauschka Spa.

If attending a wellness retreat has been on your bucket list for years but you can’t justify the high expense of airfares, now there’s the option to try something a little closer to home.

Wellness gurus Sabine Schaffer and Caroline Leon from lifestyle company A Life of Energy (caroline@alifeofenergy.com) are hosting a luxury yoga weekend retreat at the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi from October 3 to October 5. Priced at Dhs1,990 for those who pay before September 1, the retreat includes accommodation for two nights, four yoga classes overlooking the beach, two meditation classes and a welcome dinner and breakfast. Pay after September 1, and the price is Dhs2,490.

Meanwhile, breaking a sweat on the beach calls for reliable sun protection. Kaya Skin Clinic (04 450 8438) has launched a sweat-proof sunscreen, the first of its kind in the UAE. The Kaya Sweat-Proof Sunscreen is SPF 30+, is water and sweat-resistant. Better yet, it’s Paraben-free.

Lastly, passengers in upper class on Virgin flights travelling to Dubai from London Heathrow will be able to pamper pre-flight at the new Dr Hauschka Spa (www.virgin-atlantic.com). The spa offers complimentary and paid-for treatments, including facials and hot-stone treatments. Until next week, Namaste.
