Carita Salon - tried & tested

We try the luxurious cut at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray spa

Tried & tested

Holly Sands visits Carita Salon at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray for a cut and colour.

The promise
I arrive at the salon to give my locks a seeing to. As my stylist rightly puts it, the colour is dull, and the ends need evening up. She assures me I’m in safe hands.

Step by step
We decide to scatter two different shades of highlights to try and brighten my current sandy-coppery colour and do away with my root regrowth. During half an hour of friendly chatter, my stylist applies the mixture, layering it between tissue instead of foils, which I’m informed is a more modern way of doing highlights. It’s certainly speedier and all the colour is on within 30 minutes. Following 20 minutes spent underneath a heater, I’m escorted to the sink for a rinse, before heading back to my chair to have my fringe reinstated and my ends tidied up.

The results
It’s a lot lighter than I’d expected, a few shades more so than the colour I’d been hoping to blend it with, but the stylist assures me it suits my complexion and that I look healthier.

Pros
The stylists are incredibly friendly and attentive. The range of services available here means that you can get all your grooming done in one place and you could even pop next door to Talise Ottoman Spa to get a treatment afterwards.

Cons
It’s a little on the streaky side, which rules out wearing a ponytail.
