Something wicked this way comes on Friday October 31, when zombies, skeletons and other fright-inducing ghouls descend on the city for Halloween. Traditionally a holiday to remember the dead, nowadays it’s all about the costumes and parties. Sink your teeth into this expert make-up tutorial and unveil your spooky side, with tips from Dubai-based make-up artist Anna Cottle. Meanwhile, Toni & Guy offer expert spooky hair-styling tips based on catwalk looks from Penghe and Jean-Pierre Braganza.
Dramatic Retro from Pinghe
Prep hair with mousse.
Divide hair into three even sections and create a ponytail at the front of the head.
Twist the ponytail around a largebun ring and secure in place with grips.
Take remaining hair sections and wrap around bun to create a beehive effect.
Finish with hairspray to secure in place.
Baroque Maiden from Jean-Pierre Braganza
Prep hair with mousse and rough dry.
Create a centre-parting and divide hair into a halo section.
Apply style dust to roots to add texture and lift.
Clip coloured extensions to the front of each side of head and apply wax through mid-lengths to ends of hair.
Take the two sections of hair from each side of the head, leaving the extensions loose, and twist the hair together to create two chunky braids.
Once hair is all twisted, take the two coloured extensions and twist around both braids to create one braid. Secure in place at the ends with a rubber band and hold in place with hairspray.
