Be Bar blow dry in Dubai

Whip into the Jumeirah salon Be Bar for a blow-dry and vintage hair styling

Tried & tested

Jenny Hewett whips into new Jumeirah salon Be Bar for a blow-dry and vintage hair styling.

The promise
This American-owned salon claims to be Dubai’s first LA-style blow-dry bar, where the concept is to be good at what you do. Andrea and Lindsey’s team specialise solely in blow-dries and hair styling, with no cut or hair colour services to speak of.

Step by step
We enter through a small door on Jumeirah Beach Road and head to the reception upstairs. The salon itself is clean and contemporary, with an ethereal colour scheme of white and turquoise. Andrea brings her expertise straight from West Hollywood and it shows. The layout of the salon is unique, with clients positioned around a round, bar-style table in front of small mirrors. After Andrea takes us through the menu (there are more than ten different looks to choose from) we decide on retro style Be Glam, with Old Hollywood-esque waves. Following a top-notch shampoo and mini scalp massage on a flat-bed in a dimly lit room, Andrea gets to work on our tresses. She blow-dries our hair in sections before curling with an iron and pinning each curl close to our head to cool. She then brushes out the curls, and pins them into place off our face before liberally spritzing with hairspray.

The result
We are thrilled with the result, our retro style is straight off the red carpet and we’re especially impressed with how well it holds. The curls have been placed so that they’re not going anywhere and our hairdo lasts most of the evening.

Pros
• Seeing as styling is the focus, the staff are experts at what they do.
• The salon has a friendly vibe and it’s a pleasant place to be.

Cons
• There’s nothing we don’t love about this salon.
