ShuiQi Spa – tried and tested

Jenny Hewett visits ShuiQi Spa at Atlantis The Palm to test the Kuroho Body Bliss package

Jenny Hewett visits ShuiQi Spa at Atlantis The Palm to test the Kuroho Body Bliss package.

The promise
Promising ‘total body replenishment’, this two-hour treatment from luxe Japanese brand Shiseido involves a body exfoliation and a relaxing massage.

Step by step
We alight from the elevator to a grand welcome – the spa’s reception features impossibly high ceilings and an impressive, cascading water feature. Now wrapped up in the cosiness of the robe, the therapist leads us to the treatment room, which is off a catwalk-esque walkway surrounded by water and soft lighting. The therapist gets to business buffing away dead skin cells with the Shiseido Refining Body Exfoliator, which we find to be noticeably more effective than any other we’ve come across. She tends to rough spots, such as the elbows and the heels of our feet and knees. After a rinse, the massage begins, starting with some stretching and deep breaths before languid strokes melt the muscles in our body. The final touch is the application of a lush, scented Shiseido body cream.

The result
We’re totally relaxed and our skin feels baby-soft. We could happily spend all day using the world-class spa facilities, but we have to rush off to another appointment.

Pros
• The entire treatment was faultless and the venue definitely has that ‘wow’ factor.

Cons
• The product sales pitch at the end was unnecessary. They even tried to sell us the neck pillow.
