We try the Ahasees New Year Revivial package at Ahasees Spa & Club

Tried & tested

Penelope Walsh trials the two and half hour Ahasees New Year Revivial package at Ahasees Spa & Club.

The promise
This New Year themed package is a luxurious pampering session. It includes a cellulite-smoothing wrap plus a gold-enriched massage, or the wrap and a biocollagen facial (we opted for the latter).

Step by step
The process begins with a refreshing foot scrub. The therapist then applies a full body scrub with a pleasant coffee aroma. The mixture is a little astringent for very sensitive areas of skin. After showering, an anti-cellulite gel with a cooling sensation is applied and we lie on plastic sheets on top of the ‘flotation bed’. The plastic is wrapped around us and we are swaddled snugly in towels. Half of the air is then gently let out of this bed (imagine an inflatable mattress inside a bath tub), creating a wobbly, cosy little cocoon. Following the wrap, the therapist starts the facial. She analyses our skin, and in addition to a myriad of rituals, applies a cleansing papaya enzyme mask and thin rubbery sheets of collagen.

The result
We felt a sleepy and relaxed sense of well-being.

Pros
• Considering the time involved and the gift, the package is great value.

Cons
• We left the spa feeling slightly dehydrated, despite having water and tea.
• The post-treatment wind-down felt a little rushed and ended abruptly.
