Adidas Boosts tried and tested

We try out a new sneaker from Adidas for our fitness classes

The promise
The latest model of Adidas’ Ultra Boost running trainer promises an improved fit, look and feel, with its patented, super-cushioning Boost heel-to-toe foam designed to make your workout feel as effortless as possible.

Step by step
Despite having just spent half a month’s rent on a new pair of workout kicks, we’re keen to try out the highly rated new Boosts. Relegating our new neon purchase to the back of the wardrobe for a couple of weeks, the Adidas trainers come with us on a series of 5km runs, interval sprints, treadmill jogs and a dance classes as we put them (literally) through their paces.

The result
The breathable mesh keeps feet much cooler on longer runs (and socks drier by the end) and the bounce in the sole adds significantly to our performance, allowing us to take longer strides and make a typically arduous 30-minute run feel like breeze.

Pros
• The Boost technology makes them so bouncy that we actually look forward to running.

• Despite being designed for running, they’re extremely versatile.

Cons
• They’re not cheap.

• Runners with particularly high arches may find that these shoes don’t provide enough support.
