The art of beauty in Dubai

Beauty doesn't get more bespoke than the Art of Beauty with Harvey Nichols

If you can never find beauty products to suit your skin, complexion or hair type, Harvey Nichols is the place to head between Thursday April 30 and Saturday May 23. The department store is hosting its ‘The Art of Beauty’ event, with various pop-up services across the first and second floors that will help you to discover the brands and specific products that will work for you. Some of the services will go one further, creating bespoke products from scratch. Time Out Dubai rounds up what will be on offer at the event and if you get a taste for bespoke beauty, we’ve found other treatments in Dubai that offer a similarly personal touch…

Fragrance
If you’ve ever stood in a department store spritzing scent into the air for what seems like hours, but still haven’t found ‘the one’, this service is for you. The Scent Studio on level one will reveal whether you prefer woody, floral, oriental or fresh scents. All fragrances in store will have a colour-coded swing tag so you can head straight to the scents that work for you.

Make-up
Wish you could find a foundation that matches your skin tone perfectly? The Custom-Fit Foundation feature on level two offers a personal consultation with a Clarins expert, and you’ll also get some useful application tips.

Haircare
Visit the Concoction Mixology haircare system on level two to walk away with haircare products that have been created exclusively for you. Products are created from 256 different available blends delivering a prescription level of care and the optimum combination of vitamins and minerals for your hair.

Colour
Bobbi Brown is sponsoring the Colour Palette Podium on level one of the store, which features an animation to reveal the best make-up for your unique skin tone. The team will create eight exclusive looks (four for day
and four for night), tweaking the look for each customer to make it completely individual.

Hair styling
If you struggle to style your own hair and typically rely on one of Dubai’s many blow-dry bars to help you out on a Friday night, head straight to The Hair Atelier on level two. Experts from haircare brand Oribe will be on hand to teach you how to recreate one of five artistic styles. You’ll leave with a Polaroid picture of
your style placed in a sleeve with product recommendations printed alongside it. All services are complimentary, but products they recommend or create are priced individually.
April 30-May 23. Level one, with a pop-up on level two of Harvey Nichols, Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha (04 409 8888).
