The Abhyanga massage promises to leave your mind and body relaxed and rejuvenated and improve your overall wellbeing. It aims to relieve fatigue while enhancing your complexion, increasing your stamina and helping you ease into a better and deeper sleep at night.
Step by step:
The session begins with a quick consultation with the therapist to decide the level of pressure we are comfortable with and what areas of the body need particular attention. The treatment begins with a foot bath before we move onto the massage table. Our therapist rubs oil all over the body before massaging each area with long strokes using medium to firm pressure, working out any knots and tension along the way.
Our skin feels soft, but we don’t feel any different than usual. We have some trouble sleeping that night at first, but later drift off into a deep sleep, which is comforting. Overall we feel relaxed and refreshed.
• A ‘wellness tea’ is served in Assawan Lounge in the lobby, which is welcomed after the treatment.
• Our massage also included all-day access to the Burj Al Arab’s luxurious beach, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna.
• Our therapist used the massage oil straight from the bottle without heating up first, which was a little shocking to the skin at first when applied cold.
• 55 minutes was satisfactory but the treatment felt short. By the time we were starting to relax and drift off into a trance it was over.
