The beard trim is just that. In 25 minutes your fuzz will look sleeker and sharper, with a wet shave to make it more clinical if you like. ‘The Reviver’ follows this up, and is an oil treatment for the scalp, which is said to nourish the follicles. Finally, ‘The Relaxer’ is a quick head, shoulder and neck massage to rid you of aches and pains.
Step by step
In the salon’s barber shop, we’re asked how we want our beard and moustache to look. The skilled barber then uses scissors, electric razors and a cut-throat blade to sculpt our facial hair to our liking. Hot towels and creams keep the skin free of razor burn. Then our guy paints the oil onto our hair and scalp. It stays there for five minutes before he comes back and massages it in. After a wash, our hair feels and looks more bouncy. Then comes a fifteen minute massage in ‘The Study’ – the area where manicures and pedicures are carried out. In a softly-lit room, we’re treated to a firm massage before heading on our way.
The beard is neat – job done. The hair looks a little fuller, but it doesn’t seem to have any lasting effect after one short treatment. The massage is also good; it might only be a short one, but the therapist gets rid of all our knots out and we feel better for it.
Within one post-work hour, we’re groomed and feeling relaxed – that’s got to be good. The salon is very cool and the staff really know their stuff. There’s a great range of products on offer to carry on the grooming at home.
With a neat beard trim, it starts to look unruly after a few days. This is a level of grooming that needs to be kept up which could be inconvenient for some.
