Perhaps Pharrell Williams was onto something when he gave the hit song Happy to the world in 2013. It was energetic, joyous and incredibly catchy, but more importantly, it genuinely made us all feel really good. Fast-forward to 2017 and it’s pretty hard to feel the joy after reading the morning’s big international headlines on your way into the office.
But, worry not. There’s a brand-new festival coming to town that aims to help put your blues on the backburner. It’s called The Happiness Festival and will be held at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club on Friday February 17. Of course, it’s not all about giggles and Instagram photos under fairy lights (if that’s what you’ve come to believe is the definition of happiness…).
Having fun isn’t as frivolous as you might think. The festival is all about positivity and will feature exercises, games and talks, as well as yoga and meditation sessions and a dedicated area for kids.
“We’ve created an event that is focused on building a community of like-minded people who have the common goal of being their best self as an individual, in relationships and at work,” explains the event’s founder, Fiona Barron. “The festival is all about making happiness simple and accessible. It will provide the tools and resources to enable people to overcome the barriers keeping them from living life to the full.”
Attend talks with leading psychologists, discussions on mindfulness and healthy eating, and learn how to be the best possible version of yourself.
Free. Fri Feb 17, 11am-6.30pm. Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, opposite Arabian Ranches, Al Qudra Road, www.thehappinesshub.me.
