Hair detox

We hit the Maria Dowling salon to have our hair detoxified and report back on the results. Here's what we thought

Tried & tested

Something was going on with my hair. I knew this, and after a short fondle, so did Maria Dowling, owner of the eponymous salon. ‘Look at all these new hairs!’ she said excitedly. I hadn’t realised that moving to Dubai had caused me stress, but the hair doesn’t lie.

‘It looks like these are four months old,’ she said. ‘It looks like you lost a lot of hair, but it’s growing back now.’ Let’s just say I was in need of the hair ‘facial’ on offer. After a wash, Dowling started Panpuri Hair Detox treatment therapy, which combined sandalwood for deep cleansing, ylang ylang to soothe the scalp and deep-sea clay to draw out impurities.

The next day in the office my hair met with a wave of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs’, and no wonder: my locks were silken, my trademark frizz was tamed and I looked, well, like I’d just stepped out of a salon. A week later and my hair was still cherubically soft.
