Maven Spa review

Head indoors for a soothing massage this summer

We’re not short of spas in Dubai, but there are some areas of town that are sadly lacking in options. Mirdiff, is one of them.

So, you can imagine how delighted we were to stumble across a good one, in the middle of Uptown.

Maven Spa achieves what many hotel-based beauty spots strive for - chilled-out haven, in the midst of the chaos that is Dubai. But, unlike many of its competitors, this retreat actually achieves it.

Calm and professional staff, pummel and soothe your weary muscles back to life and the outside world seems a world away, and what’s more, anyone who lives at this end of town doesn’t have to make the usual trek out of the neighbourhood to de-stress.

We indulged in a Mind and Body massage, the spa’s signature treatment, accompanied by relaxing lavender oil, and were fast asleep about five minutes into it. Firm enough to uncurl your deskbound back, but gentle enough to soothe, it’s the ideal treatment for anyone looking for relaxation, rather than a firmer option.

We also tried out the Spa Pedicure. It was well worth the extra time and Dirhams. Having your feet tended to, with the added bonus of a leg massage, while lying down, is the ultimate pampering/relaxation combo.

The Mind and Body massage is Dhs260 while the Spa Pedicure is Dhs190.
