JA Hatta Fort Hotel reveals British-themed picnic

The time for having a picnic outdoors in Dubai is ripe, but if you’ve gone through all of the city’s stunning parks already, JA Hatta Fort Hotel has the perfect new spot for you to try out.

To celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s arrival of their first child in April, the five-star hotel has launched “The Queen’s Picnic” special, where guests can have a picnic in Hatta with a twist of British royalty.

For Dhs299 for two, JA Hatta Fort Hotel will treat picnickers like 19th century royalty among the mountains of Hatta, offering a picnic hamper, Victorian style throw cushions and blanket, along with a pitcher of British-themed selected beverages, mixed drinks or a bottle of grape.

The outdoor picnic feast includes a cake stand of pastries, “The Queen” cucumber sandwich with cream cheese and mint and the “Coronation Sandwich” with chicken and mayonnaise.

There’s also the Prince’s sausage roll, Scotch eggs and the quirky Alice in Wonderland salmon Wellington, finished off with a sweet treat of Eton mess and Victoria sponge cake.

You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to get in on the deal, but if you do plan on doing a staycation, room rates are currently going from Dhs571 per night.

While you’re there, you may want to try out the huge outdoor zorbing track, offering one of the cheapest zorbing rides in the world at Dhs55.

If you’re a few more spots to have a picnic, have a look at some of the best areas to lay out your blanket and soak up the weather.

Hatta is one of the top places in the UAE to go glamping as well, with its swanky trailer-style hotels and lodges featuring barbecue facilities, a communal firepit and much more.

Who could say no to a picnic fit for royalty?
