The clue is in the name of this DIFC bar, and its Friday brunch doesn’t let wings-lovers down. Whether you’re looking to stuff your face with chicken by day or night, Original Wings & Rings has an option for you.

And although bar brunches can often be more about the party than the food, Original Wings and Rings is a tad different. It’s more for the chatterboxes who enjoy digging into, you guessed it, chicken wings and onion rings while watching the big game.

Rings, wings, matches – what more could you want? For sports fans there are few better ways to spend a weekend. Original Rings & Wings is a place to get your hands dirty and watch some footy (or whatever match you fancy).

The venue is bright and spacious, with a brilliant outdoor terrace. While the brunch itself isn’t packed on our visit, there are still plenty of chilled-out groups who “eat, drink and talk loudly,” as per the motto of the bar.

Unfortunately, for a place that flaunts its skills with onion rings in its name, they’re surprisingly substandard. The way too big slices of onion are loosely coated in batter, and aren’t the best way to kick off the meal.

However, the wings more than make up for that. The all-American bar has clearly put effort into these, offering a variety of ten vastly different sauces and varying spice levels – including one where you have to sign a waiver as it’s that hot – and even boneless chicken wings.

These aren’t flimsy chicken wings either, as they are packed with tender meat. The roasted garlic with “X hot” spiciness has a nice kick to it, zesty but flavourful, while the classic barbecue with blue cheese dip is everything you’d want in a wing.

There isn’t too much else on offer on the menu, except for nachos and quesadillas, but with all the wings you can handle, that’s fine by us.

There are loads of screens for catching the game and plenty of personal screens at tables so you can cheer your team on with a bit more intimacy.

For a quieter bar brunch with ace chicken wings galore, you can’t go wrong here.
