With the Dubai winter in full swing there’s nothing more enjoyable than being able to tuck into tasty food and sip on refreshing beverages as you enjoy the sunshine and cooler tempratures.

And that’s why the Friday Garden Brunch at longstanding Oud Metha hotel Raffles Dubai is such a hit with families.

The interior of Azur has that typical hotel all-day dining feel about it, but you’ll want to head straight outside anyway. Tables and chairs – that include the low lounge variety as well as the usual dining options – nestle on the expansive lawn under large canopies surrounded by stalls showcasing an impressive array of international dishes.

The kids can run off to the playground, complete with bouncy castle, while adults can investigate the world cuisine on offer at the buffet.

The French station captures our attention with fresh seafood and shellfish (including oysters, mussels and crab claws) sitting alongside a variety of delicious looking quiches.

We start at the bread and cold cuts section where sliced meats and creamy cheeses work perfectly with a huge choice of artisanal, freshly-baked breads.

Then it’s on to the Middle Eastern section where cold mezze and shawarmas are the stand-outs, before loading our plate with fluffy bao buns stuffed with pulled beef, crispy prawn tempura and expertly cooked chicken dim sum at the Asian stand.

At each of the stations, from the Italian to the Indian and British (where a choice of traditional roasts are accompanied by all the trimmings) the chefs are only too happy to cook our choices fresh and deliver them to our table.

The kids’ buffet contains all the usual favourites from pizza to burgers and hot dogs, so the whole family will be happily full after this brunch.

If you’re a pudding fan you’ll want to make (a repeated) visit to the dedicated dessert market stall that houses a range of tasty bite-sized sweet treats.

And it’s the freshly-made churros and Nutella pancakes that prove the biggest hit from here and we can’t help but go back for seconds. Of both.

We love the old school feel of this brunch, which lets you completely escape the hustle and bustle of city-life.

It’s an enjoyable way to spend a long, lazy Friday afternoon in the Dubai sun with the family.
