Save time this Christmas by ordering a takeaway turkey

Sponsored content: Because why should you spend the entire holiday season in the kitchen?

Christmas is the time of year where all of your worries are supposed to just slip away, so why would you want to go through the stress and hassle of spending hours preparing, basting and cooking your own turkey?

Well, if the idea of stuffing your poultry this year just feels like too much to bear, you’re in luck, because JRG Dubai has got a whole bunch of different takeaway turkeys you can get your hands this season.

“Let us take-away the stress of the holidays,” they say – and we approve. We especially approve when it’s possible to get your hands on a whole turkey dinner, suitable for as few as two people, for as little as Dhs399.

Four venues are offering takeaway turkeys including Segreto, Al Nafoorah, Perry & Blackwelder’s (which also happens to be the venue for our Christmas Jumper Party on Thursday December 6), as well as dedicated takeaway turkey operation The Great British Roast Turkey.

At Segreto, the Italian restaurant and bar, you’ll be able to get a whole 6kg turkey, good for four to six people, for Dhs525. That comes with sides for Dhs575 (with sides including roasties, mash, sprouts, honey-roasted parsnips, brown butter carrots and lemon green beans), and for Dhs845 you can get a 9kg turkey with sides – that will feed up to eight people. You can collect your turkey from Segreto in Souk Madinat Jumeirah (04 366 6123).

At Al Nafoorah, you can get a 6kg turkey with sides for Dhs650 – with sides including sautéed veg, roast potatoes, mash and Oriental rice with minced lamb and fried nuts. Pick up is from Jumeirah Emirates Towers (04 319 8760).

Perry & Blackwelder’s at Souk Madinat Jumeirah you can get your hands on some more traditional American roast dinner grub. A whole 6kg turkey with gravy, corn bread stuffing and cranberry sauce for Dhs495, and for Dhs650 you’ll also get your choice of four sides. Take your pick from roast or mash potatoes, Brussels sprouts, boiled cabbage, grilled corn and carrots. If you’ve got a bunch of you celebrating together, get your hands on an 11kg turkey, good for seven to ten people, for Dhs895. Desserts including Sweet potato pie or homemade apple pie will cost Dhs175 each, but serve six to eight people, happily. Collection is from Perry & Blackwelder’s at Souk Madinat Jumeirah (04 366 6197).

Finally, for some real, authentic British grub, order from The Great British Roast Turkey. A two-person turkey, as mentioned above, comes in at Dhs399, a four-person turkey for Dhs699 and a six-person turkey for Dhs949. All turkeys come with breast and stuffed legs, with a bunch of sides, desserts, mince pies and crackers. Sides include sausages in bacon, honey-roasted parsnips, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, braised red cabbage, bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy – while desserts include Christmas pudding with custard and sticky toffee pudding with a sauce of the same name. Collection is from the Boulevard Entrance at Jumeirah Emirates Towers (055 781 3244).

All turkeys must be collected, and you need to give the restaurant 48-hours’ notice.

So, how relaxing do you want to make your Christmas? Save yourself some hassle and spend more time with the family this season, instead of gruelling away in the kitchen.
