Gingerbread Burj Khalifa replica built at DXB

14-metre-tall Christmas treat goes up in Terminal 3

If you’re flying into or out of Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 this Christmas, be sure to say hello to this huge festive tribute to the city’s most famous landmark.

Address Dubai Marina has constructed a 14-metre-tall Burj Khalifa replica made from everyone’s favourite festive fancy, gingerbread.

Stop in by at Terminal 3’s Winter Wonderland DXB and have a look at the munchable marvel, and the numbers behind it are eye-watering.

The tower itself is made from 30,000 gingerbread panels, baked using 180kg of flour, 1,600kg of icing sugar, 216 litres of honey and 23kg of ginger powder. Head chef at Address Dubai Marina, Avinash Mohan, worked with six engineering professionals to strategise the construction of the replica, taking 432 hours to build, from constructing the first panel until topping out.

It’s a whopping great feat of engineering, and is well worth a visit. While you’re there, check out the number of seasonal treats on offer in neighbouring concessions, shops and stalls, or have a quick jump around at the Bounce Inc winter attraction at Terminal 3.

‘Tis the season and all that, we’ll see you there.
