Become a ‘Wish Maker’

Give while you shop to ‘Life for a Child’
Across Landmark Group stores (including New Look, Reiss, Splash and many more), customers can make a donation in multiples of Dhs5 at the checkout, with proceeds going towards medical supplies for children with diabetes in developing nations including Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Sudan and the Philippines.

Head down to Marina Mall to take part in family community drum circles. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in, from beginners to experts, and drums are provided.

Emirates Photography Club’s Breakfast Brainstorm
Every last Friday of the month sees the Emirates Photography Club get together for breakfast and an ideas brainstorm to plan ahead for the next group project.

Learn Hindi for free
The Eton Institute is offering a free Hindi course for Dubai residents for a limited period, with classes every Friday and Saturday. A great opportunity to try a new language and learn more about Indian culture.

Feel the Fear… and Do It Anyway workshop
Based on the best-selling book by Susan Jeffers, this workshop will use a variety of strategies to help individuals overcome limiting beliefs, and empower them to cope with challenges, fear and self-doubt, and make decisions to improve their lives.

Take your recyclables to Emirates Environmental Group’s family day
Every Saturday, EEG encourages families to visit its headquarters on Jumeirah Beach Road to drop off any recyclable household waste, including plastic, tetra packs (that’s juice boxes, to the uninitiated) aluminium cans, paper and glass.

Donate unwanted trainers to Soles for Souls
If you have old sneakers kicking around the house, Soles for Soles is taking donations of trainers to give to the UAE’s labourers. Just make sure they’re clean.

African djembe and Arabic tabla classes
Drop in to these popular community drumming classes and learn to play the African djembe drum, which the organisers claim is a great way tode-stress. Alternatively, participants can also learn to play the tabla.

This local charity raises money, organises campaigns and supports people battling cancer, as well as their families. The group welcomes volunteers.
