Fundraising breakfast for Christina Noble
Children’s Foundation As part of their build-up to The Polar Circle Marathon, join Diarmuid O’Malley and Neil Munro for an 8km run around Downtown, followed by a fundraising breakfast at the Armani Hotel, where hotel vouchers will be auctioned to help the duo raise more than Dhs183,000 for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation. If you’re not keen to run, you are welcome to attend just the breakfast.

Dubai Roller Derby’s first meetup

The Extraordinaire concept shoot
Emirates Photography Club members are taking part in a concept shoot, where both amateurs and professionals can improve their skills and give their portfolio a boost. Make a donation to Hair for Hope
This week, book an appointment to have your locks chopped, allowing you to donate your hair to create wigs for those in the UAE who have undergone chemotherapy and lost their hair. Donated hair must be at least eight inches long, free from permanent colour or chemical treatments, and no more than five percent grey. Email for more information or to book an appointment.

This new hospital in Al Barsha is offering free mammograms every Monday and Thursday throughout October. Head along for a check-up.

Keep an eye out for dolphins
Do your bit for the community by making a note of any dolphin sightings off the coast of Dubai, recording the date, time, location and number of mammals spotted. If you can manage a photo or video, even better. It will all help Dr Ada Natoli, a professor at United Arab Emirates University, to establish a scientific baseline for the local population, and raise awareness of the species.

Join The Box Appeal
To take part in this annual charity appeal, head to a branch of the Radisson Blu or Park Inn hotel in the UAE to pick up a box. Fill the box with goodies from the list, including a T-shirt, cap, shaving cream, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap, shampoo and talcum powder. The boxes will then be distributed to the region’s needy by The Red Crescent. Visit the Facebook page for details.
