Learn some Turkish
The Language Exchange Dubai Group is rolling out a variety of casual language sessions at the moment, and this week there’s the chance to learn a little Turkish.

Pick up a picnic from BookMunch Café
This bookshop and café now offers picnic baskets filled with enough food for two to three people, a picnic rug and free entry to Safa Park. Orders must be placed 24 hours in advance.

Slow Food/Terra Madre brainstorm session
Local paid-up members of the Slow Food International movement, which eschews fast food in favour of nutritious sustainable cuisine, meet to get to know one another and familiarise new members with the SFI statute and principles. Attend a Sewcial Thursday session
The Sewing Parlour at new craft space reMade DXB is open to crafters every Thursday morning, where they can pop in and work on a project, brainstorm ideas, browse through the books for inspiration or meet like-minded people. The small cover charge includes refreshments and cake. There’s also a sew by the hour rate throughout the week for crafters to come in and use the machines.

Dubai Grape Club meetup
Join this group and take part in regular blind tastings. You don’t need to be a grape expert, as long as you have an interest in learning more about grape and making new friends.

This community running, jogging and walking club will tackle the Terry Fox Run together, taking on either the 2km or 10km route.

Cats and kittens adoption day
Every Saturday, Friends of Animals host a cats and kittens adoption day to help home the city’s enormous population of rescued felines.

Sharjah Biennial 11 with Emirates Photography Club
This group of photography enthusiasts, a collective of amateurs and professionals, meets to photograph elements of the art and culture event.

Sponsor a child’s education in the UAE
Manzil, a Dubai-based centre for children with special needs, is appealing for donors to sponsor the education and transport of students.

Cultural dinner at SMCCU
Try an Emirati evening meal. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about UAE culture from an Emirati host. The centre also runs a cultural brunch every Saturday.
