Attend a Sewcial Thursday session
The Sewing Parlour at new craft space reMade DXB is open to crafters every Thursday morning, where they can pop in and work on a project, brainstorm ideas, browse through the books for inspiration or meet like-minded people. The small cover charge includes refreshments and cake. There’s also a sew by the hour rate throughout the week for crafters to come in and use the machines.

Dance to the Abu Dhabi Big Band with Dubai’s Lindy-Hop group
Dubai’s Lindy-Hop and swing music-loving group gets together to dance to music from Abu Dhabi Big Band at one of Dubai’s longest-established venues.

Drinks and chats New community group
The Dubai 35-plus Friends Club is getting together for drinks and socialising at a beach bar on the Palm, where attendees can make the most of an offer on drinks and nibbles – four drinks and a bar snack for Dhs120. If all goes well, the group may move on to another location from 9pm.

Family funfair
This event at Dubai Centre for Special Needs will be full of activities for all ages, with bouncy castles, games stands, face-painting, arts and crafts and more Booklets of coupons can be purchased at the door and redeemed on activities.

Fishing trip
Dubai’s Fisher People community group meets to head out on a fishing trip. The boat will have space for around 15 people, with bait and rods provided, and shaded areas on the boat for those worried about the sun.

Cats and kittens adoption day
Every Saturday, Friends of Animals host a cats adoption day to help home the city’s rescued felines. Fosterers are also needed to care for cats before they’re rehomed. All fosterers are given full support.

Play board games
The UAE Wargames and Boardgames Group meets to play games and enjoy food and drinks. If you have a favourite game, bring it along – the group will meet upstairs inside the café.

Theatre directing workshop

Riding for the disabled

Cultural dinner at SMCCU
Try an Emirati evening meal. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about UAE culture from an Emirati host. The centre also runs a cultural brunch every Saturday.
