Ramadan etiquette workshop
Eton Institute hosts a free etiquette workshop to give the city’s non-Muslim residents an understanding of the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.

Musicians meetup

Attend the IGN Convention
This film, video game, technology and comic convention runs throughout the weekend. Activities include trailer screenings at the IMAX theatre, as well as top sci-fi and superhero movie showings, and the chance to meet UAE directors. VIP passes include free access to games and one movie screening per day.

Cat and kitten adoption day
Every Saturday, The Animal Project hosts a feline adoption day in order to find loving, permanent homes for the city’s abandoned pets. They are also in need of fosterers, particularly during the summer months.

Make your own greetings cards
Can’t find an appropriate card in the shops? Dubai’s Doodleclick online service allows you to create your own, and then prints and sends by courier to arrive (anywhere in the UAE) the next day.

See artworks by students of Mawaheb from Beautiful People
Dubai’s art studio for adults with special needs holds regular art exhibitions, and this particular event showcases works by Victor Sitali and Zaid Jaffar at the Showcase Gallery at Alserkal Avenue. There’s also an ongoing exhibition at Balance Wellness Centre and café.

Tuesday 9

Cultural dinner at SMCCU
Try an Emirati evening meal and learn more about UAE culture. From next week, cultural iftars will be conducted – be sure to book ahead to secure your place.
