Dubai Moving Image Museum
This brand new ode to the history of the moving image features objects from MCN chairman Akram Mikna’s collection, accrued over more than 30 years, and charts the dawn of motion picture film – all the way through to modern cinema. The museum is also being offered as a unique party venue.

Speak dating
From October, Dubai’s Eton Institute will be offering speak-dating language exchange sessions once again, open to all those who wish to learn a new tongue while teaching their own to someone else. The best bit? It’s entirely free. Eton Institute, Knowledge Village, (800 3866).

Gulf for Good beach hikes
Members of the awareness-raising organisation get together to hike the length of Jumeirah Beach, running roughly 13km from Dubai Marine Beach Resort to Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and taking approximately three hours to complete. You can also now start registering your interest for next year’s challenges, which include a 500km cycle through Laos, a High Atlas hike in Morocco, a trek to Kilimajaro and hiking, cycling and horse riding in Mongolia.
