Dubai is getting its own Riviera, as details of the Meydan One project start to flesh out.
Earlier this year it was announced that a brand-new megamall (One Mall) and, quite frankly, staggeringly large residential development had broken ground. We already know the mall itself will have 600 different retail outlets, a one-kilometre-long indoor ski slope (the largest in the world, no less) and a plethora of outdoor and indoor sporting facilities.
We also know that there will be the 711-metre-tall Dubai One residential tower, with the tower and surrounding area homing 83,000 residents. The residential district will also be accompanied by dancing water features, a four-kilometre canal, a berth marina, a nine-kilometre boardwalk and more.
And that’s where Azizi comes in. The developers of the project claim it is being built to emulate the French Riviera, and will “bring the best of French Mediterranean contemporary living to Dubai to create a lasting sense of community”.
Expect open spaces, long walks along the marina front, yachting facilities and more restaurants and dining options than you’d know what to do with. Phase one will begin with Corniche X, which feature seven mid-rise apartment buildings consisting of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments.
The project is due to be finished by December 2018, and, once it’s finished, will be the home for 13,000 residential units, a four and five-star hotel plus a large retail district.
