Contest to win giant street art mural and Dhs50,000

Fancy yourself as the Dubai Banksy?

Contest to win giant street art mural and Dhs50,000

Going against all playground rules: sometimes it is actually better to spray it, rather than say it.

Why? Well, because it could land you Dhs50,000 and your very own street art installation for a year.

Graffiti gurus, muralists and other art buffs are being offered the chance to paint their own giant wall.

ARTFIVE0 is a competition launched this month calling on all artists – single or in groups – to enter their designs for a huge outdoor piece in DIFC.

Anyone over the age of 16 and living, working or studying in the GCC can enter.

The wall is positioned prominently along Al Sa’ada Street outside ICD Brookfield Place, a new 90,000 sq m, 53-storey office and retail destination, and faces onto the Gate Avenue main entrance.

The overall dimension of the wall is 11 metres high and 53 metres wide, so bring your A game because it will on display for thousands every day.

Judges are hoping to discover, nurture and promote emerging artistic talent in the UAE and Gulf region.

Four finalists will be chosen after the submission close date on Tuesday, November 20, before a winner is announced in January.

The contest has been launched by ICD Brookfield, a joint venture partnership between the Investment Corporation of Dubai and Brookfield Property Partners.

Organisers are looking for suggestions that provide a link between the site and surrounding environment in a unique and creative way, while drawing on local, regional and international influences.

So, whether you’re a Banksy in disguise (pretty much what Banksy is, then) or aiming to become the next Shepard Faiery, get your spray cans at the ready and enter. Now.
Free. Closing Nov 20. Visit for more.
