There’s nothing we love more than perusing a bit of local art, and a new permanent exhibition space has warmed our creative cockles.

Artist Playground by Pullman is a new gallery opening in Pullman Creek Dubai City Centre, and you can expect unique aspect sculptures, teeny tiny miniature art, mesmerizing calligraphies and clever illusions that dazzle the eye upon your visit.

The space is intended to be a creative hub for local artists and design talent to exhibit their work to hotel guests, business clientele, media, art enthusiasts and the local support network.

And is there any other way to eye up a bit of art than over a nice brew? The space is situated in The t-Lounge by Dilmah, where you can sip upon delectable tea gastronomy and mixology as you put all that art to rights.

The project is in partnership with Islamic Fashion and Design Council, and we’re being told to expect digital art, contemporary paintings and unique sculptures.

There’ll also be various exhibitions, art series, talks and a yearly calendar of creative attractions kicking off after the exclusive opening event on Friday November 2, before opening to the public on Saturday November 3.

The finalists selected for the grand launch include Musab Al Rais, son of the master Emirati artist Abdul Qader Al Rais, the clever illusions of Muhammad Ibrahim, unique aspect sculptures by Shabir Mir, mystical calligraphies of Ahmad Khan and also Zulqarnain, meditative art by Arif Khan, the works of Bahraini artist Abbas Al Mosawi, miniatures by Noreen Akhtar, Guljee’s apprentice Humaira Hussain, lead artist of San Francisco’s top galleries Meena Kamal, and exquisite art like wood furniture by Falaknaz Warehouse, whose senior artist Ramsha Fatima will paint live on a signature mirror and wood piece.

The selected artists’ works will remain on sale at this exhibit for up to three months after the launch, before fresh artworks will be brought in.

Nishan Silva, Cluster General Manager for MAF-Accor Hotels, said, “It is an absolute pleasure to launch Artist Playground by Pullman” in Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre in partnership with IFDC and support local talent in a dedicated art area where art connoisseurs and artists can admire regional art and culture through accessible digital art, contemporary paintings and modern sculptures.”

The space is being set up permanently after a successful temporary debut of Artist Playground by Pullman at IFDC’s Pret-A-Cover Buyers Lane event in City Walk earlier this year, and art lovers have been waiting with bated breath.

We can’t wait to cast our eyes over some local brilliance.
Free. Open Nov 3, 24/7. Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre, Deira City Centre (04 294 1222).
