#MyDowntownDubai is turning ten and to celebrate the milestone it’s having a massive party – lasting 22 weeks.

The festivities in Downtown Dubai have already kicked off, including remarkable arts and installations and a tonne of events and cultural activities.

You’ll be able to appreciate art pieces by world-renowned artists including the Wings of Mexico by Jorge Marin, Wild Kong by Richard Orlinski and Love Me by Richard Hudson over the course of the celebration.

Wings of Mexico (pictured above) was created in 2010 and aims to embody the hopes and dreams of the Central American nation’s citizens while promoting Mexico’s image and artistic output worldwide. Its striking design consists of two wings of bronze, which are placed on an iron frame above three steps of concrete.

Having visited Kuwait, Egypt, Singapore, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi’s cultural centre, Manarat Al Saadiyat, in Saadiyat Island’s Cultural District, it will now take pride of place at the entrance to Burj Plaza on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard with Burj Khalifa as a stunning backdrop.

Wild Kong is a sizable representation of King Kong in all his glory. Orlinksi, a contemporary French artist, crafts his colourful sculptures in accordance with his signature “Born Wild” ethos of living positively.

Frequent visitors to The Dubai Fountains might be familiar with Richard’s Hudson’s Love Me. The massive, three-dimensional, heart-shaped sculpture is formed from polished steel and situated outside the mall.

The shimmering shape is directly in line with the towering Burj Khalifa at the opposite end of the Waterfront Promenade, and is a cracking spot for a selfie.

More art and activations, as well as live entertainment, will come alive along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard over the 22 weeks, with new pieces arriving throughout the season.

Let’s get this party started.
