We’re never happier then when we’re perusing vibrant art created by local talent – apart from when we’re admiring the said art with a burger.

Though stuffier galleries may frown upon the consumption of fast food in close proximity to the artefacts, we’ve found a place that actively encourages it, and our creative juices (and saliva) are flowing at the mere thought.

Beloved burger joint Shake Shack is bringing together the best of food and art in Dubai by transforming five Shacks into creative zones, where diners can enjoy tasty burgers while appreciating the works of local artists based in the UAE.

Curator, artist and visual art director of ArtPaintingLAB, Samira Saliba identified talented artists who were keen to showcase their work to diners, with the aim of supporting the art community by encouraging them to display their pop culture-inspired art pieces in a fun and informal setting.

You can now enjoy your favourite burger (the Smoke Shack if you’re interested) surrounded by contemporary art across Shacks located in The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, JBR, Souk Al Bahar and Dubai International Airport, from artists Dina Sami, Khalid Mezaina, Maria Iqbal, Max Laurence, Melvin San Miguel and Reem Al Mazrouei.

Emirati artists Reem Al Mazrouei and Khalid Mezaina have captured the experience of enjoying good food, with subtle hidden Shake Shack references in backgrounds, cups and accessories at the Shake Shack in Souk Al Bahar.

Meanwhile, English artist Max Laurence has transformed the Shack at Mall of the Emirates into an action-packed playground that will appeal to millennials. Que endless selfies.

Max Laurence has also teamed up with Palestinian artist Dina Sami’s to add a burst of color to The Dubai Mall Shack. The artwork is a recreation of Downtown Dubai with a fun and surreal comic featuring a giant crab burger and a sporty flamingo, no less.

Afghani artist Maria Iqbal captures the neighborhood beach scene at the JBR Shack, while showcasing the holiday lifestyle that is part of living near the beach.

Filipino artist Melvin San Miguel has doodled a fun aviation-themed comic at the Dubai International Airport Shack, transforming it into foodie’s heaven with surreal, surprising and entertaining illustrations.

We can’t wait to feast our eyes (and stuff our bellies).
Locations include The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, JBR, Souk Al Bahar and Dubai International Airport, www.shakeshack.com.
