Take your old and damaged clothes to patch up as good as new

Spruce up your wardrobe with a clothes upcycling workshop

Got a tonne of old clothes that are headed straight for the tip? Well hold fire! There could be life in the old dress yet.

The Visible Mending clothing upcycling workshop is a place to take the clothes you’re sick of looking at, and transform them into something sick to wear (sorry).

There are two of the three-hour workshops upcoming, the first of which will be held on Monday July 1 at 9am until noon at the Glitches & Stitches workshop in The Greens, followed by a second on Wednesday July 3 from 6.30pm until 9.30pm at Kave in Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz.

Participants will learn how to darn holes and cover their tracks with one of Glitches & Stiches many embroidery designs, and all of the material will be provided.

All that you’re required to take is an old piece of clothing with a hole or stain if 2x2cm or smaller. That shouldn’t be a problem…

The workshop costs Dhs150, which is probably cheaper than any (quality) new clobber, and you’ll also have the satisfaction of repairing something pre-loved.

We’ve got any number of sorry-looking rags to pick from.
Dhs150. Mon July 1, 9am-noon (The Greens), Wed Jul 3, 6.30pm-9.30pm (Alserkal Avenue), www.glitchesandstitches.com.
