István Várdai to perform for one-night only at One&Only Royal Mirage

Classical cellist comes to Dubai

Dubai Concert Committee’s World Classical Music Series is hosting cellist István Várdai for a one-night only performance this weekend (Saturday September 14) and if you’re a fan of classical music, this is a night you won't want to miss.

Since the beginning of his career, István Várdai has played with world-famous musicians including Mikhail Pletnev, Ádám Fischer, Zoltán Kocsis and Gilbert Varga as well as orchestras such as the Russian National Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra.

Várdai has also released numerous albums and has been honoured with international awards, truly making a name for himself in the classical music circuit.

In 2009 he was awarded the Junior Prima Prize for Best Young Artist of the Year, in 2012 he was awarded as world's most promising young musician at the Montblanc Cultural Foundation’s Arts Patronage Awards and in 2014 he won the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich – to name a few.

History buffs will also be excited to hear that Várdai plays with the antique Du Pré Stradivarius cello, which was made in 1673 by Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari.

The concert is taking place on Saturday September 14 at the Royal Ballroom in One&Only Royal Mirage and there are three type of tickets available – Gold for Dhs263, Platinum for Dhs368 and VIP for Dhs472 – click here to get yours now.

Next week the award-winning film Gladiator will be projected up on the Dubai Opera’s large screen, accompanied by a live performance of the Oscar-nominated soundtrack courtesy of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra – find out more here.
