Just in time for Christmas, classic ballet The Nutcracker has been announced as the latest top-rate theatrical performance to hit the stage of Dubai Opera.

Off the back of Phantom of the Opera coming to Dubai later this year, The Nutcracker will be in town from December 4-7, which will see the music of Tchaikovsky accompanied by live ballet performed by The Saint-Petersburg Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre and live orchestra.

The Nutcracker completes the hat-trick of Tchaikovsky’s ballets to be performed at Dubai Opera, with Sleeping Beauty coming to town in April, and having had Swan Lake on stage in Dubai late last year. First written in 1892, the ballet has been performed around the world on countless occasions, telling the tale of the Nutcracker prince who transforms from a wooden toy to fully grown human warrior, protecting young Clara from the reign of the mouse army while seeking to regain his crown held by the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Land of Sweets.

The production will see more than 50 professional dancers take the stage, most of which have been trained at the Russian Vaganova Academy of Ballet.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at Dhs250 and there’s a 20 percent discount available if you book before Sunday April 14.

Don’t miss your chance to see this absolutely iconic ballet and orchestral piece performed live in Dubai for just four nights.
