Dubai’s theatre scene: what’s coming up?

Looking to add a bit of culture into your life? Over the past few years Dubai has well and truly become a hub for anything and everything to do with the arts in the region and we’ve recently seen some of the biggest productions from across the global take Dubai’s stages by storm.

With the city just about recovering from Phantom of the Opera fever, we’ve rounded up some of the best upcoming shows to book yourselves into. 

Be Bop a Lula
The hit rock ’n’ roll show direct from London’s West End is coming to Dubai’s Theatre by QE2. Prepare for stellar hits from four of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll icons of all time: Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Billy Fury, Roy Orbison – plus a special guest star. Exciting.

Broken Wings

Bring on 2020 – Broken Wings is set to hit the big stage. An autobiographical account of Kahlil Gibran’s first love, Broken Wings is a musical adaptation of the iconic poet’s 1912 masterpiece – a tale of tragic love. Tissues at the ready.

La Perle by Dragone

If you haven’t had the chance to see the stunning aqua show La Perle by Dragone yet, what are you waiting for? Prepare to be wowed as you can expect fire, rain and waterfalls all taking place under one roof, and performers flying across the stage, diving from jaw-dropping heights and even defying gravity on motorbikes – you have to see it to believe it.

Peter Pan
Flying onto the QE2 for the festive season, Peter Pan, Wendy, the Lost Boys and all other eternally young literary figures stemming from J. M. Barrie’s Never Never Land are set to take you on a magical adventure.

Nights on Broadway: The Bee Gees’ Story
Get ready to be taken on a musical journey and celebrate four decades of music by The Bee Gees with this tribute show. Known for their incredible hits like Night Fever, Stayin’ Alive, More Than a Woman and many, many more, the trio of brothers have sold more than a whopping 220 million records worldwide. Nostalgia, here we come.

The Nutcracker

Just in time for Christmas, Tchaikovsky’s iconic classic ballet The Nutcracker will hit the stage of Dubai Opera. The production will see more than 50 professional dancers take the stage, most of which have been trained at The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
