These Dubai schools are officially the best in the city

A previous version of this story said that the ratings were for 2019 – these are the 2018 ratings, and the updated inspection reports will be released soon. All schools on this list received an equal 'Outstanding' rating.

These are the top schools in the city, according to the 2018 rankings from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Every year, the KHDA undertakes a comprehensive examination of educational institutions in the emirate, where every school is rated according to certain performance standards.

The Authority evaluates everything from the effectiveness of the school and learning environment to student achievements.

From ‘outstanding’ and ‘very good’ to ‘acceptable’ and ‘weak’, the guide aims to help parents, and encourage schools to improve further based on their current standing. Assessment criteria include school leadership, student attitude and more.

The KHDA’s report also mentions how much it costs to attend any of the schools, offering parents an informative, comprehensive look into their children’s education.

Parents will be happy to know that, this year, more Dubai schools were rated ‘good’, with a total of 86 improving their overall performance.

There are 14 schools rated ‘outstanding’, 27 ‘very good’, 68 ‘good’, 51 ‘acceptable’ and only six ‘weak’ after a total of 1,416 inspections conducted totaling into 12,566 hours spent in classes by the KHDA.

The Authority surveyed 389,670 parents and 113,242 students, focusing on areas such as the academic achievements of Emirati students, provision for moral education and students with special educational needs, and innovation within school curricula.
