A Vigilante

A Vigilante

TIME OUT SAYS

fuelled by biterness and rage, Olivia Wilde’s vengeful Sadie is committed to taking down New York’s bad guys. By that we don’t mean gangsters or super-baddies, we mean the seemingly ordinary men who abuse their partners. Wilde’s vigilante of the title is an ice-cold operator, working hard to free the put-upon wives of these monsters. Director Daggar-Nicholson manages to get the tone spot-on, this is about the women who deserve to be free of the men that control them. Sadie doesn’t violently attack them, she calmy, but devastatingly, takes them down and dismantles them. There are many layers to our hero and to the film, and it becomes a moving portrait of suffering. Paul Clifford
