The work of veteran horror hound Brian Yunza – who directed cult favourite Bride of Re-Animator (1990) and produced Return of the Living Dead III (1993) – Amphibious looks to be another exploitation of the 3D format to gain some lost bucks on a mediocre picture. Hot on the heels of multi-dimensional blood-on-the-high-seas flicks Shark Night and Piranha, this caper, for what it’s worth, traces a scientist who bumps into some mercenaries, before the underwater threat of the film’s title is realised in typically gory fashion. You know you’re in hot water with this one.
