Jack Reacher

Tom Cruise as ex-Army crime-fighter

Lee Child is a UK writer whose series of American-flavoured crime thrillers has captured the imagination of readers across the globe. It was only a matter of time before Hollywood showed interest in his ex-army character Jack Reacher, and this Tom Cruise vehicle is the result.

Reacher is one of those characters who always seems to get sucked into some bizarre crime-fighting scenario, in this instance a mass killing in a public piazza. Director Christopher McQuarrie has cast Cruise in the role of Reacher – a little odd given that Reacher is described in the books as a strapping, six-foot, rugby-sized lunk – and (wait for it) documentarist Werner Herzog as a baddie.
