British beachfront restaurant Retro Feasts relaunches

Classic beachfront restaurant Retro Feasts has relaunched with interiors that pay homage to British pop culture and a menu featuring '70s, '80s and '90s dishes.

The brainchild of Luke Thomas, who became the world’s youngest head chef at the age of 18 and launched the restaurant when he was only 21, Retro Feasts serves up British favourites and comfort food in an old-school setting.

The new menu, inspired by recipes he cooked as a child with his grandmother, will revive childhood favourites.

You’ll find Thomas’ signature dish – coronation chicken in a bun – plus classic fish and chips, fish finger sandwiches, original New York hot dogs, mac and cheese, nachos, corn dogs and skin-on fries.

Kiddies get their very own combo menu, while breakfast-lovers can feast on big breakfasts, waffle cups, smoothie bowls, as well as peanut butter and jelly French toast.

The beverages menu will offer plenty to wash down those heavy dishes with, including classic thick shakes in different flavours, a juice bar, hot and cold coffee and retro coolers.

Interior design buffs will be happy to know that the new décor has been inspired by the graphic designs of Neville Brody and Peter Saville, narrating the stories of the iconic punk, rave, indie and Brit-pop artists of the '90s.

Retro Feasts is also easy on the pocket, with meals for two averaging at Dhs95 – that’s a pretty good deal.
Open daily 10am-11pm. The Beach, Jumeirah Beach Road (052 722 6462).
