Hip new event Sole DXB at thejamjar last Thursday celebrated all things sneaker-related, from urban art to skater culture and hip hop. But the soles themselves were the stars of the show. Packing out both thejamjar’s warehouse-style building and the entire area outside, the crowd was so cool we felt as though we were on the set of an underground music video. We arrived just in time for the screening of short film The Mystery of the Flying Kicks, then wandered round the exhibition area, which featured some rare shoes as well as covetable art prints. The DJing from Lobito was refreshingly different, and local musician Noosh Like Sploosh put on a great show. It was fantastic to see such an alternative event taking place in our city.
