There’s nothing we love better than a steaming hot bowl of fragrant curry. Teeming with turmeric, crammed full of chillies, and swimming with spice, it doesn’t get much better – unless there’s a deal to be had. These curry nights in Dubai are a cheap and cheery way to get your saucy fix.
Argy Bhaji at The Scene Fancy a bit of argy bhaji? Strut on down to The Scene (preferably in the manner of Fat Les) for a steaming hot bowl of molten spice that will put some hairs on your chest. Options include prawn or chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh or roasted cauliflower katsu, plus a bottle of Indian hops for Dhs99. You’ll also get half a portion of rice or chips and a crispy poppadum with mango chutney, because all of that charging around works up a hefty appetite. Dhs99. Mon 5pm-2am. Blow your socks off at Reform Social & Grill Yes it’s curry night and the feeling’s right, and if there’s any curry shindig that’s going to get you singing, it’s the Wednesday night offering at Reform Social & Grill. Choose from creamy chicken korma, tasty lamb rogan josh, fully-loaded vegetable curry and a beef vindaloo that will warm the cockles for just Dhs99 every Wednesday night at the British gastropub. Bottomless curry at Spike Bar Please sir, can we have sam-o-sa? Well, yes you can, because the curry at Spike Bar at Emirates Golf Club is bottomless. For Dhs150 you can get stuck into an unlimited curry buffet over the course of three hours – that’s a lot of chicken korma, and they’ll throw in a free glass of grape or hops to wash it all down. Dishes come from chef Hari Ghotra, who trained at Tamarind of Mayfair – one of the first Indian restaurants to be awarded a Michelin star. Think squid pakora, dhal makhani and a smashing lamb pita toastie, because fine Indian cuisine comes in all shapes and sizes, and who are we to discriminate? Dhs150 (with one drink). Sun 7pm-10pm. Footy and a lamb chop at Lock, Stock & Barrel JBR – The Walk Lock, Stock & Barrel isn’t just for sports, drinking and music – it’s also for curry. Get any curry dish, rice, naan bread and a house beverage for just Dhs79 at LSB JBR on Monday nights and you’ll also be able to catch the footy on the big screens. Dishes include paneer or chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and king prawns, chicken and lamb chops from the tandoor oven. Toss in a naan bread and an onion bhaji and job’s a good ’un. Dhs79. Curry Mondays at Khyber Spice up your Monday night with a jaunt down to Khyber for a bargain curry washed down with a pint of hops for Dhs99. You’ll get your pick of the menu with jeera rice and tandoori bread to guzzle down in sophisticated surroundings. Hump day spice-fest at Links The curry night at Links is a right corker. Every Tuesday you’ll be able to dig into murgh makhanwala, dal makhani, badami lamb korma or madras fish curry for Dhs103 with one skewer of chicken tikka. If one tikka just isn’t going to cut it then you can upgrade to unlimited for Dhs142 and they’ll even throw in a bottle of hops. Sides include poppadums, raita and mango chutney. Result. Midweek curry sesh at The Croft Every Tuesday, you can get your hands on a spicy menu filled with some of the world’s best-known curries with a contemporary British twist. Inspired by London’s Brick Lane and Britain’s love for curry, the menu features a range of dishes including chicken tikka masala (obviously) and lamb balti, but more interesting choices include the likes of coconut shrimp if you fancy being a bit adventurous. You can also pair your curry with a selection of craft hops on offer, for Dhs49. If you’re after a bit of a knees up with a midweek curry, this spicy bundle should be just the ticket. From Dhs60. Seaside feasting at Riva Beach Club If there’s anything we love more than scranning a curry platter, it’s doing so from a luxurious beach club on the sands of a man-made island. As ever, Dubai delivers the goods, and this time it’s RIVA Beach Club that’s giving us the five-star treatment. The Sunday night curry night here comes in the form of a thali, crammed full of curry platters and delicious sides. You can dine indoors or al fresco, devouring four curry mains served up with rice, chapatti, yoghurt and salads. Dhs80. Sun 6pm-11pm. RIVA Beach Club, Palm Jumeirah (04 430 9466).
Thai vibes at Cargo Monday night is curry night at Cargo, and the restaurant is paying homage to Thailand with its scoff-worthy deal. You’ll be able to delve deep into piping hot bowls of Thai curry for just Dhs55, with options including beef red curry, chicken green curry and vegetable yellow curry. Top deals at Nelson’s It’s all going on every Wednesday at Nelson’s. Not only can you get stuck into a delicious curry for Dhs85, you can also take advantage of the daily happy hour between noon and 8pm to wash down those spices. Wednesday night is also ladies’ night, with free drinks for women until 2am making this an absolutely bargainous night on the tiles.
