What does your face say about you?
According to Eric Standop, quite a lot. The world renowned face reader analyses the shape, lines, quirks and nooks of a person’s visage to give a unique insight into his subject’s personality.
And what’s more, he doesn’t even need to meet them. The German professional claims he can work out what makes you tick from nothing more than a photograph.
Not just any photograph however – Standop’s latest project sees him interpreting the pictures of photographer Richard Pilnick, taken on a wooden camera based on 100-year-old technology.
And if that didn’t seem oblique enough, Standop doesn’t simply identify his subject’s character traits – he writes them each a poem, which he says offers unique insights into their soul.
Find out what the face reader might have to say about you when the Portraits of a Soul concept visits Dubai’s Talise Spa, from March 14 to 21.
Curious souls can sit for a photography session with Pilnick, where they will briefly meet Standop – but not have a full face reading session.
Instead Standop will analyse Pilnick’s image from afar later, and write a personalised poem based on what he sees.
The package – which includes a 10 by 8 inch print of the chosen photo, plus the handwritten poem delivered to your door – comes priced at Dhs1,850.
Whether that sounds like your bag or not, take a look at some of the previous picture and poem combos the pair have come up with – and see if you can recognise yourself in any of the pictures.
While in town Standop will also host a face reading workshop and seminar at the Madinat Jumeirah spa on Saturday March 15, running from 10am to 4pm, and priced Dhs950 including lunch.
