Expo 2020’s first major hotel opening is happening in the next couple of months, as we get ever-closer to the arrival of the biggest event in the emirate’s history. And we got an exclusive look inside.

With little over two years left to go before the show, Aloft Hotels – the group behind some of the city’s trendiest hotels, including Aloft City Centre Deira with its own outdoor cinema – has confirmed that its latest opening in Dubai South is set to serve the Expo 2020 audience.

Some 25 million visitors are expected to head to Expo 2020 when it swings open its doors on October 20 2020, up to 70 percent of which will be international tourists coming to Dubai.

Plus, with the ongoing massive expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, Aloft Dubai South’s location in the heart of Aviation City (at the entrance to said airport), will be ideal for people jetting in for a trip to Expo, Dubai or even Abu Dhabi.

As you can see, the hotel sticks to the chain’s trendy, swish design throughout, with arty, modern vibes, pool tables, bright colours and generally stylish vibes.

There are 145 loft-themed rooms in the hotel, including six corner rooms with an extra bit of pizzazz – plus a bunch of open spaces designed for “music, design and tech enthusiasts”, and the latest tunes being pumped out at the hotel’s WXYZ bar, a signature feature of practically every Aloft hotel.

There’s also a pool, all-day dining restaurant Nook and grab and go restaurant Re:fuel, as well a fully-equipped gym available 24 hours a day.

So, we know where we’ll be staying for Expo 2020.

Coming soon. Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai South.
